President’s Message

On behalf of the Florida A&M University National Alumni Association, Incorporated (FAMU NAA) and as the 19th President, we invite you to join us at the 2024 National Alumni Association Convention which will be held, May 30 – June 2, 2024, in the Tampa, Florida.

The Convention Committee continues to work tirelessly to bring you an exceptional, informative, and entertaining convention. This 4-day event will be filled with workshops and fun activities designed to actionize the convention theme, “One FAMU: Stronger Together,” where we will focus on realigning and strengthening our commitment to our beloved University.

The convention will also present an opportunity for participants to engage with the FAMU NAA Executive Board, FAMU Senior Leadership and Administrators, the FAMU Foundation Board, and current and prospective FAMU students.

We are excited that the FAMU NAA Florida Region and the Tampa Alumni Chapter will serve as hosts. While attending the Convention, we encourage you to take advantage of the many activities that Tampa and surrounding areas have to offer.

We look forward to you joining the “One FAMU: Stronger Together” vision and action at the 2024 National Alumni Association Convention. It is imperative that we as alumni and supporters of our great institution are involved and play an integral role in the sustained future of the National Alumni Association and our illustrious Alma Mater, Florida A&M University. Florida Region VPs Message

This convention brings FAMU Rattlers from across the country to discuss supporting FAMU from their communities in the U.S.  This event also keeps the Rattler faithful informed and engaged.

We are delighted that the convention is in the Preeminent Florida Region in Tampa, Florida this year.  We are planning an array of convention activities that are FAMU worthy and can be carried back to your respective communities to enable FAMU to thrive.  While you are here, we invite you to enjoy all that the city has to offer and we encourage you to visit museums, monuments, restaurants, and diverse neighborhoods.  In particular those that are culturally relevant such as The Jackson House, Konan BBQ, FAMU Ignite Programs at HCC & SPC, FAMU Adopted High Schools such as Blake, Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum in St. Petersburg, Tampa History Center, 7th + Grove, and the Ybor City Music State Park.

On behalf of the members of the Florida Region, we wish that you enjoy your visit to the “Champa Bay”.

Tampa Chapter President’s Message

Greetings Alumni and Friends,

The Tampa Chapter truly appreciates the opportunity to host and extend to you a warm and hearty
welcome to the 2024 National Alumni Association Convention in Tampa Bay. We are waiting with
eagerness to greet you and can assure you that we will be courteous hosts. We hope that you will
experience the warm-heartedness and hospitality that Tampa Bay has to offer.
The heart of Florida’s Gulf Coast beats in Tampa Bay. The Tampa Chapter encourages all
convention attendees to unlock sun, fun, and culture in Florida’s most diverse travel destination.
Tampa proudly exhibits the melting pot of cultures that reflect the destination’s diversity with
community leaders like the honorable Mayor Jane Castor, Hillsborough County Commissioner
Gwen Myers and City Councilwoman, Gwen Henderson, and many others, playing a significant
role.
Tampa Bay is home to three world-champion professional sports teams; Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
Tampa Bay Lightening, and the Tampa Bay Rays. The Tampa Bay area is also known for its coastal
attractions, award-winning beaches, beautiful parks, world-class amenities, abundant shopping, and
a revitalizing downtown, all of which truly make Tampa a great place to live, work, and play.
This convention is a peak experience for our association. We will work tirelessly throughout
the coming months to aid in assembling a conference worthy of your time and expense. We
aim to make the week enjoyable and look forward to bringing you a top-notch experience.
We hope you will surely collect happy memories by attending this convention. Our chapter will
remain eager to assist in making your visit memorable.
